Jonathan has extensive experience in the management of colorectal cancer, specialising in minimally invasive techniques to improve patient recovery following major abdominal and pelvic surgery.

Dr Jonathan Yong is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and a Member of the Gastrointestinal Society of Australia.

He graduated from the University of Adelaide Medical School in 2003, completing his Internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2004. He was then awarded his Advanced Surgical Fellowship in 2014.

Jonathan completed a further two years of subspecialty training in colorectal surgery in Queensland and New South Wales, during which he performed over 400 major laparoscopic colorectal resections. At the same time, Jonathan completed a Masters of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2015.

Jonathan also has an interest in the management of complex pelvic floor disorders, performing diagnostics and management for two years at the John Flynn Medical Centre, Queensland.

In 2016, Jonathan returned to South Australia, being appointed as Colorectal Consultant and taking up a teaching position at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
